GLMR rehomes English Mastiffs in a multi-state region which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Western Pennsylvania. (If you reside in another state, please see our Home page for other resources.) Working with a network of volunteers, our goal is to optimally match the dogs that we bring in through our surrender program with loving adoptive families. We have developed a structured adoption process that allows us to evaluate the temperament of our rescues so that we can determine the environment in which they will thrive. At the same time, we meet with our adoptive families so that we can understand their desire and the factors which will affect the success of the placement.
Before adoption all of our rescues are evaluated for carefully for temperament while they reside in the foster care of a trained volunteer for at least two (2) weeks. During that time, or longer if necessary, GLMR will treat any medical conditions and have the dog spayed/neutered if needed.
To begin the adoption process, please complete the application below in its entirety.
You must be at least 21 years of age to submit an application. A volunteer will follow up with you to understand your situation and desire. We are very careful about our placements, so please understand that there will be a number of steps to complete including a home visit, the submission of veterinary records, and reference checks. If you are renting you will need to provide written assurance from your landlord that large breed dogs are allowed in your home.
There is an adoption fee of $450 for adult Mastiffs, $550 for Mastiffs under one year of age and Mastiffs 6 years or older are $300. Please note that we rarely have Mastiff puppies in rescue.
All items noted with an asterisk (*) must be completed in order to process your application. Please mark the question “N/A” if it does not apply to you.
Please note that the form takes a few seconds to process. You will see “waiting for server” in your browser. Don’t close your browser! When the form has been submitted you will be redirected to our Home page.
Covid19 pandemic update:
We are again working to take in dogs and with prospective adopters interested in our Mastiffs. However, since there have been spikes in the infection rate, we are doing this with health and well-being of our volunteers of the utmost importance to us so are moving very slowly.
The BOD sends thoughts and prayers to all of you during this crisis.
