Major

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to helping us save Major’s eyes.

It was a rough few months for his foster family.   He had a urinary tract infection, and then his calcium levels were extremely low and numerous surgery appointments were canceled.   We finally were able to get all blood work stable.

However, once he was under anesthetic and they performed the ultra-sound, we learned that the retinas had detached.  We contacted one of three surgeons in the United States that could perform retina reattachment surgery, but because Major had this condition since he was a young puppy the doctor indicated that the surgery would not be a success.

We were all extremely disappointed, especially his foster parents.

Your donations were used for Major’s many vetting and medical expenses.  He will always have to take calcium supplements and he will eventually contract glaucoma and require surgery to correct that condition.

Major is now available for adoption.  He will always be blind, but once he is acclimated to his environment he is a happy, well-adjusted boy.

IT'S OK

WE'RE HERE TO HELP

GLMR volunteers have worked with hundreds of families to help find homes for their beloved Mastiffs. Whether it is a puppy, a senior, or a special needs dog, we would be happy to speak with you about our program and how it works. Our approach is one where only the best families adopt our dogs. And we stand by our placements throughout your Mastiff's lifetime.

MOST DONATIONS ARE FULLY TAX DEDUCTIBLE

With several reasons to donate, why not now?  GMLR can help those in need with medical bills and find a safe place to live.  With all this great work is there a reason not to give?

Our Mastiffs need your help!

We depend upon the generosity of our supporters to help the Mastiffs that come into our program. Our adoption donations barely cover the cost of routine medical care, transportation, and other necessities associated with rehoming.  Often these dogs come to us in need of so much more.

As a 501(3)c non-profit organization, most of the donations we receive are fully tax deductible (but please check with your tax advisor). Please fill out the donation form below to support our "Gentle Giants" with a contribution through PayPal. Once you have completed your transaction through PayPal we will send you an acknowledgment letter. Your support is so appreciated! Please note that if you would like to mail your donation, our address (below) has recently changed.

The Mission

Founded in 2004, GLMR, a completely volunteer based organization, grew out of the need to find approved adoptive families for abandoned Mastiffs. Due to the recent popularity of the breed, and the inexperience of giant breed ownership, many of these majestic dogs are being surrendered to shelters. GLMR provides a mentoring program for volunteers and potential adopters, a spay/neuter program as well as educational materials for shelters, schools and the general public. Our volunteers take therapy dogs into nursing homes, classrooms and public sites, and a great deal of GLMR's efforts are directed at providing Mastiff Breed education, information on potential health problems, the difficulties of giant breed ownership to potential adopters/owners and to raise the publics awareness to the problems of over population and the ramifications of indiscriminate breeding.

GLMR is a registered 501 (c) 3 NFP organization
