GLMR rehomes English Mastiffs in a multi-state region which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and Western Pennsylvania. (If you reside in another state, please see our Home page for other resources.) Working with a network of volunteers, our goal is to optimally match the dogs that we bring in through our surrender program with loving adoptive families. We have developed a structured adoption process that allows us to evaluate the temperament of our rescues so that we can determine the environment in which they will thrive. At the same time, we meet with our adoptive families so that we can understand their desire and the factors which will affect the success of the placement.
Before adoption all of our rescues are evaluated for carefully for temperament while they reside in the foster care of a trained volunteer for at least two (2) weeks. During that time, or longer if necessary, GLMR will treat any medical conditions and have the dog spayed/neutered if needed.
To begin the adoption process, please complete the application below in its entirety. You must be at least 21 years of age to submit an application. A volunteer will follow up with you to understand your situation and desire. We are very careful about our placements, so please understand that there will be a number of steps to complete including a home visit, the submission of veterinary records, and reference checks. If you are renting you will need to provide written assurance from your landlord that large breed dogs are allowed in your home.
GLMR is a registered 501 (c) 3 NFP organization
